4 Miles Saturday, Sunday, 0 Miles
But at least I got to the studio and painted a couple of ornaments...then I came home and worked in CS4...not exactly a lazy weekend.

Turkey Trottin'
It looks like the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is going to become an annual tradition in our household...holidays for me are enjoyable but tiring, and adding a race to the day doesn't help. I will say that I'll never be an Olympian, but that's not what counts, squeezing in a workout with about 3,000 others is definitely a different experience than my usual training runs and always worth it. What I like about the little local races is the range of participants, super fast sprinters, walkers, small kids running hand in hand with a parent who is coaching them along the way and elderly parents, usually in nice gear, running hand in hand with adult children. And then there's me, coming in whenever I come in...just taking part.

Sneaking out for 4
I just KNEW I wouldn't be able to run this weekend because I had Open Studios both yesterday and today but I ran 4 miles today. I needed to drive into Boston to see a photograph taken by my nephew that was selected for a school show before I arrived at my studio today. Congrats to him, and glad I was able to work a quick workout run into my crazy weekend.

3 Miles after Work...Woohoo!
Wow...two days ago I thought I was going to be on a running hiatus, and then 2 days in a row I make it work...where there's a will...

4 Miles before Work...YES!
Just yesterday I was upset that I may not be running until Thanksgiving Day, which is an annual town 5K...I worry that I will for some reason, let my running go and then will have to start all over again at some point. Not that this would be the end of the world, in fact, that's one of the great gifts of working out...even if we give it up, even for extended periods, we can pick it up again, at least in some capacity, unless we fall apart to such a degree that we need to take baby steps back. I guess the key is, we can get our fitness back. I just feel as though I am in the best condition I have ever been in consistently (with the possible exception of the year I trained for a marathon). I was such a sedentary kid and young adult that the spectre of inactivity and weight issues hover over me consistently and it is always easier to pull up a chair or pull up the covers than to pull on the running pants and lace up the shoes and face the weather. It's always worth it though, and I guess I've done it enough times that I'm gratefully aware of the true rewards of at least some form of discipline in this area. I think I'll keep it up for awhile.

Where did the time go?
Another weekend zips by...but no running. I don't like that. I don't feel energized, and I can't get out of my own way. When I don't run for a week...I worry it will go on for longer. The odds are pretty good I won't be running next weekend either...Open Studios on Saturday and Sunday plus other stuff...I'll just have to figure it out I guess.

6 fan-TAS-tic Miles!!!
...it was SO beautiful yesterday...(actually today too, but I was at work so it kind of doesn't count...) anyway, I went out for a run...not knowing just how far I would go. It's been a couple of weeks since I have run consistently, or anything remotely resembling long...and after Saturday's placeholder 2 miler, well...let's just say I was glad to be out there again. I was feeling really good...I just kept running and I did 6 miles for the first time in awhile. I really need to do this more often...I just do. But like everyone else I know, I also need more hours in the day. Damn.
